THE FIRST REGION TO HAVE HIGH-SPEED INTERNET, FROM NOW ON AUVERGNE TRAVELS AT LIGHT-SPEED

Auvergne was the first European region to have 100% high-speed internet coverage.

Today, it is one of the most dynamic in adopting broadband.  In 2011, the city of Issoire was one of the 5 French pilot cities for ultra high-speed broadband installation experiment (the only city bringing together a partnership of the 4 national service providers: Bouygues Télécom, Free, Orange and SFR).

In 2012, for the first time in France, the State, the Region, local authorities and Orange France Telecom signed an agreement for the deployment of ultra high-speed broadband in Auvergne.

Their goal : cover 50% of the population of the region in 2020. Meanwhile, communities of Auvergne launch a consultation prior to the establishment of a network of public initiative to provide ultra high-speed broadband to 53% of the population living in areas not covered by the Orange network.
